Food waste is Sh*t

Did you know that one-third of all global food is wasted every year?

The Good Shit Company produces kick-ass sustainable spirits from overproduced bread. We believe food waste can be upcycled in exciting ways to encourage more conscious consumption, to help our planet shift from wasteful consumption to a more circular one.

Great taste, made from waste

One of the most wasted food types is bread, with over 10 million tons (≈ 2 million elephants) being wasted globally every year.

Time to turn bad Sh*t into good Sh*t. In a special process, we ferment and distil only high-quality bread from overproduction that has been stupidly discarded by our food system. So you can drink truly responsibly.

Circularity Start-up Award 2024

We are so happy and proud that our young company has been awarded the Circularity Award for Start-ups in The Netherlands. The purpose of our company is to turn bad Sh*t into good Sh*t. Now, the jury of the Lifeport Festival Circulair 2024 turned it into gold.

Our conviction is that food waste is Sh*t. This award encourages us to continue to inspire more like-minded people to join the movement towards a more conscious way of consumption.

Funded to achieve full circularity

We are super happy to announce that we have received funding for a model project in collaboration with Euro-Chemicals as part of the Interreg project “Realise-Bio”, co-funded by the EU.

The goal is to improve our sustainable approach and achieve full circularity in our Sh*t Vodka & Gin production 1) by finding a solution for reusing the mash waste (emulsion) from our distillation process, and 2) by creating new, unknown valuable products.

United against food waste

We are a very proud stakeholder of the Samen Tegen Voedselverspilling Foundation (United Against Food Waste Foundation).

Samen Tegen Voedselverspilling joins forces and expertise with companies from the entire chain, knowledge institutions, governments and civil society organisations for one common goal: to reduce food waste in the Netherlands by 50% by 2030 compared to 2015. In doing so, it makes the Netherlands a leader in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12.3.

“Waste isn’t waste until we waste it.”
